Angels have a comeback plan for Josh Hamilton

The Angels have mapped out a comeback regimen for Josh Hamilton, under which the troubled outfielder could rejoin the team in early June.

Under the tentative plan, Hamilton would report to the Angels' Arizona training complex for two to three weeks of work with the team's extended spring program. He would then proceed to a minor league rehabilitation assignment and could rejoin the Angels thereafter.

Hamilton is expected to report to Arizona "sooner rather than later," according to a person familiar with the plan but unwilling to discuss it publicly until the Angels announce it. The person spoke before the Angels' 6-3 loss to the Oakland Athletics at Angel Stadium on Monday.

The plan does not guarantee that Hamilton plays again for the Angels, but at the least it buys time for owner Arte Moreno. If Hamilton appears sound enough that his presence on the roster could give the Angels their best chance to win, the players might be discouraged if Moreno lets Hamilton go.

i dutifully watched every ST game...these guys..joyce, cron  were world beaters.  mike and albert were in mid season form.     i thought it was going to be different.

maybe its plan by the players to get hamilton back in the fold....if angels doing well hamilton gone....now they are sucking sooo bad....there is a chance.  bring him on.

i rooted so hard for him last year...wanted him to be a series MVP....but he missed balls by a foot.    started the year at MVP pace....lets see what happens.

He might as well be working on something legit, idle minds produce problems.  In Josh's case those can be big problems.

In related news, Jim Edmunds wife is going to be on OC Housewives.  Don't these women know that there is absolutely nothing attractive or glamorous about being on that show?  You would have to have a screw loose to do that show.

Sounds a bit like contractual upkeep.  Angels invite/tell him to go to Arizona for training.  If he fails that step, they can use it against him.  If he fails to report to the minors after that, they use that against him.  And so on.

Hopefully he reports, knocks the cover off the ball and eventually returns to the roster and knocks the cover off the ball at the Major League level and for the Angels.  Lord knows the offense could use any help.

What if shows up and plays in AAA but sports a .185 / 0hr / 2rbi's / .525ops in 35 AB's. Does he get the call up?
