 I would much rather have the umpires held accountable for their inconsistencies.

 

The umpires have not been held accountable for their inconsistencies ever since the game existed.

 

If they haven't been held accountable up to now, when will they every be?

 

Computerized strike zones ftw. Umpires can stand around picking their butts making sure the game moves along and players are following the rules.

Yeah, we all knew this would be a bad opening day matchup.  I love Weaver, but a #1 starter he definitely is not at this point in his career.  The more his velocity drops the less margin for error he has, and that margin is pretty much impossibly slim when you're throwing 82-83 MPH fastballs.
