The Diamondbacks are a clusterfrack so this isn't a big move, just a move.

What I mean by that is that if the Dbacks were at least somewhat competitive and a player or two away from taking the division this might be considered the piece or at least closing in on that team.

 

But the Diamondbacks collective OPS+ for their starting 9 was 96. Remove Goldschmidt (no one else broke 100) and it drops to 88. They need almost an entire pitching staff, Colmenter was their ERA leader at 3.46, no one else broke 4. Their relief core could have been the Angels from last season, just adding fuel to the fire.

 

They need 12 of the 25 man roster replaced, not one guy from Cuba.

Tomas, Trumbo, Peralta, and Pollock, that's some serious fire power in the deserts outfield. Throw in Goldy and Arizona's working on a pretty good lineup.
