Sorry I don't like that. The best should never have the choice of their Opponents. Play whoever comes your way and leave out all doubt. I like how it's set up in the sense that the best plays the wild card. Let the other 2 division champs play each other.

Actually, I wouldn't want to pick the team. Talk about a way of firing up the opposition. "Really? They wanted to play us? Let's show them that they picked the WRONG team!"

This is a head scratcher.    A team that won the previous two AL West titles, starts off 71-44 in year 3, and then pulls off an epic 12-24 tank job so far.

A part of me wants Oakland to lose out on the playoffs altogether.  One because I dont want to see Lester once or even twice in a postseason series, hes the best playoff pitcher in the AL.  2, I would love to see Beane not even have a chance of his trades working out, and failing miserably.  And 3, Oakland is a garbage town and their fans suck, no offense to that A's guy who posts here.  

 

But still, seeing Gray, Kazmir and their bullpen getting lit up like this makes me think we would sweep them if we did play them.

Sonny Gray is likely experiencing the effect from pitching many more meaningful innings than he ever has before. 

Either that, or the league is starting to figure him out.

 

The Rangers, almost a sure thing for 100+ losses a week ago, with a win today would only need to go 3-7 to avoid 100 losses.

Oakland may very well miss the playoffs entirely, and not by just a game or two.
