No I think it's a slump like every other major league player in history has suffered. But if you want to assume the worst go right ahead, Eeyore.

Plate discipline and swing rates stabilize pretty quickly. This is more than just a slump.

However, I am hoping he can make adjustments and fix these issues. Because he's not going to be the same by putting way less balls in play.

Seriously, his love for veterans and giving them so many opportunities has been well documented here. I really think he has become complacent with his managerial skills and refuses to adapt to the expanding plethora of information/sabermeterics available to everyone. I hear someone like Bruce Bochy describe that batting average is overrated and that he weighs OBP and Slugging percentages in higher regard, and sigh thinking I wish we had an intelligent manager who would come out and say those things. Instead, we have someone who long employed and supported the opposite in Mickey Hatcher. I'm ready to fire Scioscia.
