Surprised this hasn't been posted on the board, sorry if I missed it.  Cops shot an unarmed 20 year old honors student in Long Beach last week.

He was on mushrooms.

He was actually drugged up on some kind of psychodelic drug he had never done before.  He had been in a sustained fistfight, had threatened a bunch of people and then jumped out of a window like an SC safety.

 

Doesn't mean the shooting was right but there is some back story to this.  Again the problem is that if it was a mistake there is no way to fix it.

So, drunk and or drugged up.  Jumps out of a window.  Tasered.  Batoned.  And still comes after the officer.  Maybe the officer didn't say please?  Not sure what else the officer has to do outside of get beated to death by the guy in order to shoot.

From what I've heard the cop didn't know how to use the taser and missed.  Haven't heard anything about a use of a baton.

Cops are only allowed to use the force necessary to stop the threat. IF taser was deployed and a baton used but still didn't work then I think they can justify the force since lower levels weren't sufficient.

From all of the news stories I would've thought it was much, much higher than 28.2% of people killed by cops being black.

That headline was awful.  It was city that made the officers shut them down.  The article stated that the kids said the officers were very nice to them.
