He shows a level-head by not elaborating upon mission specifics. You don't go around advertising operating procedure because it very well could affect those who are currently deployed. It also says a lot that the LAT had to do some homework and contact one of his NCO's to gather useful recounts of his service. He isn't there to talk about how tough he is or overplay his war stories.
