Mariners sign Cano to 10yr/$240 mill deal

Dont' blame the M's one bit. Sure sounds like they are being played and used for leverage here. Offered him a 9yr/$225 mill deal and they ask for 10yr/$260 mill

crazy

Hopefully this is true to though. This would be a good development in the Halos pursuit of Tanaka, if he is posted. Yanks would have most of their money tied up into Cano and the M's, despite all the cash they have, still need to focus on adding a hitter

Idiot. Take that deal. No one else is likely to equal that deal and Seattle is a great place to live. Oh yeah, Robinson - fire Jay-Z.

I'm sure Jay-Z figures whatever he does and touches turns to gold . I mean in reality he has turned speaking kind of rhythmically over sampled tracks into millions of dollars - the guy generally has good luck

He and Puff Daddy are morons. They just rejected one of the biggest contracts in MLB history and have no leverage. It'll be hilarious when they have to settle for a paltry 160 million. Seriously, what do these assholes want?

Yep. Unless the M's cool off and put their original 9yr/$225 mill back on the table, then Cano and Jay-Z are left with nothing but going back to NY on THEIR terms. With nobody else realistically pursuing him, the Yanks hold all the leverage over Cano

talk about bungling things up.

So, this means one of two things -- Cano's representation is very very dense, or Cano really doesn't want to play in Seattle.

Probably both of those things.

Jay Z is going to find out really quick he's in over his head.

Cano on the other hand just lost the one team that was willing to greatly overpay for his services.

why would a guy with three World Series and played for the top franchise in baseball want to even consider the Mariners? He can get paid more than he can spend anywhere else so why just go for the dollars and hope to get to third place in your division every year?

The Mariners need to produce their own resume before they go applying for the leagues top talent. Each year they look like fools offering big dollar contracts and players basicly ignoring them.

Source: Talks between Cano, #Mariners still alive.

Not too surprising. M's obviously want to improve their offense badly. You figured they'd cool off at some point and just go back to putting their original and final offer on the table and then let Cano make up his mind
