Straw man argument. I would prefer he says the team is playing well and he is excited about the energy of the club.

Scioscia brought up playoffs. He was not responding to an inquiry about playoffs. I don't understand why he would bring up a topic that has less than a 2% chance if happening.

.500 would be great, and would likely still net them a #14/15 overall pick.

Do not sign an aging big money guy, and lose that pick.    Tanaka awaits.

I care less about .500 and more about: Calhoun looking like he's the real deal, Green being a serviceable 2B next year if we trade Howie, Trumbo increasing his trade value, Richards continuing to mature as a starter, 2 or 3 guys emerging out of the BP as actually reliable, and no one getting hurt.

I don't think anyone believes its a reasonable chance and that includes Sosh.  However, he should be positive and fighting the end.  Those who think he shouldn't be would be poor managers.

I'd rather he say nothing at all, or at least nothing related to the topic of postseason. I would be ok with him saying, "We are playing much better, and we have some young guys that are really starting to show promise." That would be something ok to say.
