I can't wait for hockey season to start.  I really like the Ducks 3 road games to start, I feel as though they could be 2-1 or 3-0 coming back for the home opener.  D will be the big ? on this team.

I'm cautiously optimistic about this season.  Once again, it's all about the start.  And I know Bobby wasn't that great last season, it's gonna be hard to replace him, but we have some nice young prospects.  Crossing my fingers that Etem fills the role.

 

Anyone going to training camp?

I wont be able to make training camp but I am going to the 1st 2 preseason games next Mon and Tues.  Etem didn't look all that great IMO in the rookie game at the Honda Center Saturday.

im stoked for the season but not expecting us to win it all.

like i said IMO with this much youth the cup window starts next year and runs to the end of getz/perry deals.

 

still wondering whats gonna happen w the goaltender surplus.

i think if we can trade one to bolster the D with a badass we do it. 

 

we are sick deep at forward and youth.

According to Eric Stephens via Cam Fowler the Ducks figure to start the season without Beauch.

 

Beauch says he is still trying to be ready by opener...I'd rather he make sure he is fully healthy rather than push it to start the year.

Winnik at center is a possibility according to Eric Stephens...interesting. That must mean the organization doesn't have much faith in Holland.

Went to camp today, here's the lines I remember...

 

Getzlaf-Perry-Penner

Bonino-Selanne-Silfverberg

Koivu-Etem-Cogliano

Holland (I think)-Palmieri-Beleskey

 

At least in the case of the first three lines, I'd say those are a lock to start the season.  The fourth line has room to fit DSP, or Rakell, or Staubitz.  And I'm sure Winnik is going to move onto that third line if Etem is bumped up or down.

 

And Beauch is looking good.  I don't doubt he's ready to start the season.  He even put a nice hip into Etem during a drill.

Just curious, why do you have the lines in center-wing-wing instead of the customary wing-center-wing?

I see a lot of hail mary's from the third line.  The defense can just clear the zone to the other blue line and tell Etem and Cogs to fetch.  Then go straight to the bench when they score.

The Ducks are up 4-0 in the first period of the first game of the preseason.

 

Man, I am really looking forward to this upcoming season. The Ducks are going to score a ton of goals this season.

Just hope the defense doesn't suck. Think we all knew coming in we'd be scoring a lot with BB as coach. Lets see if the D kicks it into gear too.

The game was awesome last night...pretty decent turnout for a Monday preseason game against the Coyotes.  I'm happy I was in my seat when the game started because the Ducks were up 3-0 after the 1st 3 min!  Noesen looked really good out there, he should be a nice addition to the NHL team in a couple years.

Sorry for the late reply, I haven't been around.

 

As for the question.  Don't know.  just felt like doing it that.  I guess because a lot of the time, a line is named after the center.  Like when you're watching a national broadcast, an announcer will say, "The Getzlaf line is on the ice."  But really it was kind of unconscious of me.

Sbisa sprained an ankle but sounds like he'll be ready for the 10/2 opener.  Also sounds like Beauch will play a preseason game and if he comes out of that okay he will play the opener.

Our D is too thin to have Sbisa out for a while.  Hopefully he keeps the bonehead plays to a minimum.

Etem hurt in last nights game. Not known how serious yet. Calling it a lower body injury. He and Torres collided. Both missed the 3rd period. Hope it's precautionary.

Etem tweeted after the game that he is fine and will play on Sunday.
