It honestly feels like every single or walk is a double. Ianneta and Conger are both fine as a backup catcher, but theres not much in terms of FA catchers. Its not like a starting catcher can be traded for either. Just looking at FA, McCann is head and shoulders above everyone else and will get paid a ton. After him, there is

AJ (dont want that a hole on the team)

Carlos Ruiz ( may stay in Philly, but is good defensively)

Saltalamachia

Kurt Suzuki (my favorite option, always has been very solid defensively and is just 30)

Our current play at catcher is embarassing and no doubt Sosh is fuming.

Hank is a good receiver.

His pitch calling is suspect and he doesn't control the run very well but most of the steals tonight are 90% on the pitcher.

Both could improve with enough reps although he'll never have the arm to be a force.

I just can't imagine spending big money on any FA at this point.

Bob Boone at 65 would probably be a better option than what we're seeing these days.

The pitchers need to do a better job with runners on. For the homegrown pitchers, that's the organization's fault.

Y'all need to put more bases in that stadium. I noticed there wasn't enough room for all my Rangers on only three bases.

Sneaking in after the game was over and placing your Chuck Norris sex dolls all over the field doesn't count.

Hank Conger was over 30% until Hanson's dart throwing competition (no other way to describe his delivery) and now rests at 29%.

Your favorite is the worst of all the catchers you listed for caught stealing.

He is going to make a great bench coach someday.

This brought me a mental picture of the future.

Mathis gets his first manager gig, and hires his long time pal, an 82 year old Scioscia to be his bench coach.

Mike Scioscia as Don Zimmer.

Anyone who has watched Hank knows he drops the ball on the transfer probably 30% of the time and airmails his throws often. A lot of that is on the pitchers ( sb with Hanson on the mound shouldn't count), but still, anyone who watches him knows he doesnt look fluid back there. I definitely like his bat and the fact that he is a switch hitter so i am rooting for him to figure it out, but i think hed be best suited on a team where he could rotate like Napoli between 1st, DH, C.

Historically, Suzuki has been up around 27-30% cs and he was always pretty solid on the A's. If anyone has ever watched Tyler Clippard or Drew Storen pitch, they are both slower to the plate than Hanson. If u guys actually pay attention to CERA, Suzukis been in the top ten for the past few years ( not a qualifying player this year)

A month ago everyone was up in arms that Conger wasn't getting all the playing time due to his vastly superior defense. Now all of the sudden both he and Iannetta should be tarred and feathered. I'm so glad everyone isn't overreacting to two games.
