Worst part about yesterday's game...

Loup, most obviously. But Drury and Renfroe's final at bats. You have a fast runner on first. Who, by the way, didn't really cause any distraction or show aggression. Either his or the manager's decision. And those two batters couldn't or wouldn't adjust their approach by shortening up their swings.

Those type of situations are where a lot of the strategy of baseball can make a difference. Hit and run, a straight steal, hitting to the opposite field, trying to punch a single where the ball is pitched, working the count, and so on. Clearly not all hitters are good at this stuff, but if the game is in the balance they have to change their approach.

Maybe it's unfair to single this out, but for years I've seen Angel hitters just trying for power swings regardless of the situation. And maybe look for more 'small ball' efficient players.

Exactly this, could not agree more.

Situational Baseball, instead of taking the Earl Weaver approach channel your inner Gene Mauch……

Between bringing in Loup and watching those final at bats just made me frustrated.

That was my thought as well. Tepera, Loup, Quijada, etc. look extremely hittable.

The GM should have replaced the entire bullpen before game 1. What dogs these guys were last year! Now we have to watch them again? Ask Shohei to scout some Japanese pitchers!  If we let the bullpen keep losing his games Shohei might go elsewhere. Shohei is a great resource, not just his arm or his bat. His influence in Japan would draw some great players to the Angels if the GM had the brains to get his input.
