Hunt Auctions has announced the private sale of a bat used by Babe Ruth circa 1920-21 for $1.85 million, a record price for a baseball bat.

The previous record also belonged to a Ruth bat, one that sold privately for $1.68 million by Heritage Auctions last August.

According to Hunt Auctions, the new record holder is the "only known example to offer photographic corroboration."

The "Polo Grounds" bat, as it's colloquially known for the stadium the New York Yankees played their home games in until 1922, is matched to a 1921 photo of Ruth swinging it.

Man, how amazing would it be to own something like that?

The New York Yankees lost another pitcher to injury Saturday, placing reliever Jonathan Loaisiga on the 15-day injured list with right elbow inflammation, the team announced.

It's unclear when Loaisiga suffered the elbow injury, and the Yankees didn't provide an immediate timeline for his potential return. The 28-year-old pitched in three games this season, allowing one earned run while striking out one in his last outing Wednesday.

New York was again counting on Loaisiga as a key late-inning reliever ahead of closer Clay Holmes. The Nicaragua native posted a 4.13 ERA in 50 regular-season appearances last season and also missed some time because of a shoulder issue.
