Fantastic deal for deGrom. Cashing out at the right time with the injuries/UCL damage the last couple seasons and being 34 years old. Rangers....ooph

Good for the Rangers for spending, but this seems like a deal that will age very poorly, very quickly.  Will be 39 by the end of this deal, and he has just not been able to stay healthy.

They do.  Their estimated luxury tax now rests close to 200mil.  Are they going to sign more?  I'm not sure this move puts them over the edge.

Correct, and I'm fine with it..It gives hope to the rest of the Roster and your TOP 2 players in Trout & Ohtani that your going for it .. even if it works for 3 years of the 5 I would believe that Ohtani re-signs....

The thought process is to surround Trout & Ohtani .... Otherwise, Ohtani is Gonzo and Trout will request a Trade! And you're left with a broken down Rendon.

My thought process is to KEEP OHTANI #1.

Solid emoji's mmc and the Rest!.. What would you do to keep Ohtani and improve our chances to re-sign him? While winning the AL West?

IF it's not in the minors, it's not through Free Agency, and you don't have the ability to Trade for it due to your lack of Prospect Capital? What do you do?

Well they have a plan 200mil can spend more.

We can talk shit on the contract all we want, but at the end of the day it's a hell of a get for the Rangers. If he's healthy, it makes our division that much more tough to win in.
