Better hope the new owner is named like tomorrow then

Not all these guys of course. But I think Nimmo, Rodon, and one of Bassitt/Anderson/Stripling would make this team a contender. That’s a ton of money to spend and I know they won’t do it, but it’s also not a totally unrealistic amount.

That’s like a $60M-$70M AAV, which is a totally unrealistic amount.

Nothing special but something I would consider.

 1. 1st/of: Myers; 15 mil over 2 years plus (7.5 mil per year)

2. 2b. Wong: 16 Mil over 2 years + option for 3 year (8 mil per year)

3.Jansen 20 mil over 2 years (10 mil)

4. Montero  23 mil over 3 years (7 Mil)

Spent: 32 mil

Depending on if the ownership change is done and the new owner is willing to spend more;

Sp. Evoladi  (45-50 mil over 3 years)

Line up;

1. Rengifo SS

2. Trout (Cf)

3. Ward  (Rf)

4 Othani (DH)

5. Rendon 3rd

6. Myers/Walsh 1st

7. Wong 2b

8. Stassi C

9. Myers, Adell, Moniak lf (can move up if Myers is starting)

BP:

Cl: Jansen

Su: herget/Montero

Loop, Tepera, Wantz,?,,?

Starting

1. Othani, Sandy, Evolid (?), Detmers, Suatez, ?

I agree. But only because of an absence of desire to spend. They can spend that and I believe still be under the cap.

I've been one of those on here who basically defended Moreno and our payroll for years. We've always been top ten.

But if there was a time to spend it's now... something to try and sell to Ohtani and the fan base that you're giving it your best shot.

Doubt it happens.

It is, though with that bringing his pricetag down, you can then make the argument he has higher upside than most starters that sign cheap one year deals

But you still have to cover those missed 8 starts with another pitcher. That is both the money and internal depth drain and is that pitcher going to perform at a high enough level to create a reasonable win probability. Heaney is pitching fools gold.
