A new report suggests that Apple’s (AAPL) next-generation iPhone may include near-field communication (NFC) technology and even a fingerprint sensor. According to The China Times, Taiwanese firm Chipbond will provide touch display drivers and chips that support both technologies in the iPhone 5S. Apple is reportedly planning to use the fingerprint sensor in the iPhone 5S to deliver enhanced security to such as contactless mobile payments. The technology comes from Authentec, a company Apple acquired last July for $356 million. The iPhone 5S is expected to launch in August and is rumored to be equipped with a faster A7 processor and better cameras.

im stoked to see if they release their tech for wireless charging.

not just the normal stuff like nexus 4 has, where you have a base that's plugged and you put the phone onto this orb (which is kinda nifty, but doesnt really solve the wire issue).

they are gonna try some near-field magnetic resonance where you can charge wireless from an area of 1-2 meter radius.

probably wont be out until iphone 6 tho because you likely have to tweak the form factor.

I once used a Motorola cell phone that was one piece (not a flip phone), almost the size of a regular phone, with an extending antenna like that one. I found it in the garage about two months ago in a box. It had been sitting there for several years. I pushed the power button just for the hell of it, and it powered up.

It was believed that Apple was planning to include a fingerprint scanner in the home button, however this is now in doubt because the purported iPhone 5S button looks nearly identical to the one found on the iPhone 5. According to MacRumors, the only difference is the positioning and size of the flex cable. The internal vibrator is also similar to the one found in the iPhone 5, once again suggesting that the iPhone 5S won’t include any major design changes from earlier models.

This might be the reason Apple users STAY with Apple...but i doubt people will jump ship from Android to Apple cuz of this.

I'll criticize both and buy something better, however it's worth noting that the S3 is probably a better product than the 5S will end up being.
