If it were up to me I would let Minasian go.

Or maybe keep him but bump him down to an assistant GM and bring somebody else in.

He's not ready IMO.

Yea, I don’t think they bump him down, but they could hire someone that comes in as a POBO which in essence bumps him down without actually bumping him down.

I picked Minasian whose firing would indeed be premature. But given the sentiments expressed by Club president John Carpino (before Minasian was hired) where he acknowledged (despite their big budgets & Trout) that the Halos are simply "not winning games" and that "something is not right in our organization as things, here, aren't working".

So with this admission, it seemed clear that whoever they hired (between Minasian & Hollander, the VP & assistant GM in Seattle who worked under Stoneman) they expected this "something" to not only be identified but corrected immediately. Especially with Carpino's belief they already possessed "the base of a strong team" & were "not that far away" from contending.

So along with managing only 77 wins in 2021 & the prospect of finishing even worse this year (plus somehow, stupidly, allowing his "urgency" in getting back to post-season play to be defined by the likes of Wade, Velazquez, Lagares, & a host of DFA'd cast-offs), I think he gets the hook once they have been officially eliminated from contention.

I think that Jeff Luhnow would be an excellent choice if they go this route. Assuming he would do it of course.

At some point the players have to look inside themselves. And just get back to the basics. See Ball, Hit Ball.... Over thinking does nothing for anybody!

To me, They just look frustrated, pressing, and going through the motions.... That's a Organizational philosophy issue or a coaching issue...

If there is an actual physical problem that needs to be addressed individually.

That isn’t happening.

Just offering an opinion as if Arte were to create such a position his preference would likely (and sadly) be his pal La Russa anyway (should he & the White Sox part company that is)

I doubt that, but ok, you are entitled to that opinion.

Fire O'Neal. I can put up with a bad season but not if I have to listen to an announcer that can't understand the play as it unfolds in front of him and constantly gets it wrong.

You don't have to listen to him.

I was dubious of his choosing to go hard after the pen, and I will never understand the Suzuki thing but I want to see what he does when he doesn't have a manager that's got an idea of how to build a roster.

Last year we heard time and again how he liked certain looks, that he wanted guys coming from different angles and locations. That bit at the end of last year where a statement was made that they couldnt continue to try to rely on unknowns on the bump didn't help any either.

I have my doubts but the one thing I'll give him credit for is he's not been slow to act or make a decision that he feels needs to be made. I really want to see how he handles the deadline, that may be what makes or breaks him with me.  Not even talking about specific returns on players and the sort, that shit takes two to tango -- but the general direction.

Maddon was fired recently. Nevin isn't making a case that he should be hired full-time.The GM hired less than two seasons ago. Without experience in this role.

Seems like a general state of instability. You can try and ride out the worst this season, adapt on the fly, stop the bleeding and hope for the best. Focus on the mental side. Positivity, confidence, attention to detail. And more attention to fundamrntals. I suggest some extended practices and/or consultations with outside specialists adding their input.

Decide after the season what longer term path to follow. More mid season changes embarrass the organization. And tend to discourage high end candidates from wanting to work in such an environment. You can't construct a team long term with mid season reflex reactions. They  already fired the manager. A new manager will pick his own staff, so these assistants likely will be gone anyway.

Like him or not, I can't see Perry getting fired too. The revolving door at GM is a joke already. Who would want to be next in line?

Whats your problem with Nevin?  I think he is exactly what the Angels need.

He just seems dumb. The mess against the M's and him getting suspended for 10 games because he made it obvious that he put in the reliever just to throw at Wanker was a prime example of that. The Angels don't need a Maddon but they don't need some roided up angry hockey dad either.

There was no "mess" against Seattle.   The Mariners (like several other teams) have been throwing up and in to Nevin's best  hitter.   Finally someone in the Angels org showed some spine and tried to put a stop to the bullying of Angel stars.

Mayb'e Nevin did put in an "opener" but he also got his point across and won the game as well.   Hitting Wanker in the @ss is not a felony.

And yet, the team wasn't fired up, proceeded to get embarrassed by the Astros, and if not for Ohtani going on a rampage over his last 5 starts, would have a significantly worse record under Nevin than even under Maddon. Fans are only defending it because the team has been so utterly atrocious that we have nothing else to hang our hat on.

Maybe because being “fired up” doesn’t close the talent gap in the two teams?

Of course not. Point being that stuff like fights, throwing at opposing players, flipping tables, tirades, etc, don't accomplish anything unless the team is already good. Otherwise just looks dumb
