Eat part of Iglesias’ salary ($24 million of $48.5 million remaining).

That should buy an excellent prospect or two.

To me they should do one of these things.  Pursue a deal that returns impact players.  So, package Thor Iglesias and one of Adell or Marsh.  Even consider Ward.  Do something that shakes things up.  Impact.  Maximize this by eating most of the money owed to Thor and Iglesias.  
 

If you don’t do that then you might as well consider extending Thor.  If you’re serious about winning next year they’ll need a guy like him anyway.  Thor is as good a bet as any of the other pitchers on the market.  And they know him.  
 

The Angels don’t need shitty middling prospects that probably won’t be regular MLB players.  We have plenty of those.  We don’t need more Duffy and Gosselin.  It’s pointless if you’re not getting impact players.  
 

the history is that the Angels don’t do enough to be serious about changing the trajectory of the organization but hey.  They’ve still got time today.  And they’ve got yet another off season.  Here’s to hoping.
