Velazquez offensively

I’m just confused that they not only aren’t doing anything to fix it (like they have with relievers that haven’t produced like Mayers, Ortega, Peguero, etc) but that they are playing him every single day which means they have convinced themselves it isn’t an issue having a black hole there. He’s a really bad hitter, gets a hit every 3 days or so. How do they think we can win with that kind of production at SS? If they didn’t think that, I feel they would have done something about it.

Yes, he started out horrendous.  But in the last 30 days he has 8 HR's, 28 RBI's and his OPS is .846 (batting average .239).  That would have looked pretty nice during the Angel's last 30 days.  He also has speed, and is a good fielder, plays 2B or shortstop.

They don’t have the money to sign a Story or a Correa.

the bigger failure and disappointment is the inability to draft and develop middle infielders. Fletcher is the best MIF they’ve developed since Kendrick and Aybar. That’s laughable

trading Segura definitely stings but they just have to find better guys through the draft

Velazquez has the 2nd worst Wrc+ out of all the hitters in mlb that have as many PA as him. His defense while good isn’t prime Simba, nobody is. Other options though are bad incl the Fletcher we’ve seen for over a year now that sucks, Wade sucks, Rengifo sucks, Mayfield sucks. Might as well call up Stefanic and see what happens. Maybe we can trade for Jose Iglesias to play SS.
