There's something vaguely pathetic about this franchise. For decades, they were the little brother who was always in the shadow of his big brother. Then, for a time, they were pretty good. But they (he) didn't know how to sustain it, and made one bad move after another, and can't get out of this vicious cycle.

True. I mean, that was an unreal dream. But it was 20 years ago, and only one postseason appearance in the last 13 years. 2002-09 was great, but it is the distant past. I mean, the last time the Angels won a postseason game was Obama's first year in office!

3rd WC at least gives them a fighting chance this year, even with this horrible stretch they're mired in.

Maybe they'll add a 4th Wild Card team in the AL next year to get Trout & Ohtani into the playoffs. Maybe a Round Robin Tournament. So everyone gets in.
