I thought the first season was ok, but I bailed pretty early into the second season.

Since I did this on Sweet Tooth, I'll ask: were you aware that it was based on a novel?  Justin Theroux's uncle wrote it.

Yes, I read that Justin Theroux's uncle had written the book.  I understand S2 didn't align with the book very much, but they had hoped to get back to it being more aligned with the book in S3.

I really didn't find the Ali character likeable.

Netflix - War Sailor:

A newly released Norwegian short series (three episodes) about merchant marines in WWII. Specifically tracks two friends and one family from shortly before the war until a few years after. EXTREMELY well-made and acted. One of the better things I've seen in a long time. That said, it is F-ING ROUGH. Like horrifically, viscerally, deeply sad and intense. Several times I found myself thinking the scenes they were showing were much more realistic depictions of the sad, scary stuff that can happen when being hunted on the open sea than the (somewhat) glamourized version of death and destruction that you see in a lot of war films. It just sort of highlights the lack of control people have when the world is going absolutely insane around them, and you really get to understand how thoroughly reasonable it is when people slip into various forms of madness as a result.

All in all, a deeply unpleasant series that is really really good and well worth a watch.

Finally got around to watching this. Fantastic show. Thanks for the recommendation.

John Wick: Chapter 4

We're not big movie-goers but we decided to catch this one in a theater. Hilariously violent as with the other 3. A fitting finale to the series.

BTW the other 3 are currently on Freevee.

I recently re-watched the first three. Damn, they’re good. Part 4 comes out on PVOD in a couple of weeks. I’d really wanted to see it in theaters but haven’t been able to make the time. Sad!

They really are good. I love how they surround John Wick with these amazing characters who do all the talking while John Wick says, "yeah."

Did you know?

I guess it’s about a young Winston. Also, not seen in the trailer is the show’s biggest name, Mel Gibson.

I was a big fan of the first 3 but part 4 was a huge let down for me. I fully accept that implausibility is part of the franchise and action movies in general but this one takes that to the extreme.

Citadel on Amazon Prime

New series. Spy thriller looks like it might be good. Only watched one episode but when they rolled credits they played this song and I went, whoa:

I watched the first episode last night. Hopefully it turns out to be good.

HBO:  Perry Mason Season 2  Enjoyed this reboot of the Perry Mason series.  Haven't seen the original, but I'm sure this one is quite different.  Deals with one case through each season.  Also, it's interesting, since they keep it a period piece taking place in the 1930's.  Just some subtle things, like in this season, when they panned the horizon, and showed a construction in progress Griffith Observatory.  Was a good watch.

Two weeks until the series finale for both Succession and Barry, arguably the best two shows on TV. Damn. They both seem to be closing strong, though I haven’t seen last nights eps.

Also, Silo had a very strong third episode with a fantastic moment or two. Great stuff.

we started S1 of Yellowstone yesterday. interesting so far (we're about 5E into it). it has elements of Longmire in it with the dealing with the local native tribe, a potential casino, and real estate issues. plenty of murder also.

Spoiler

the daughter is a messed up alcoholic whore who needs serious help. what her mother did to her as she was dieing was about as awful as a parent could treat a child.

Watched "Still" on AppleTV+ - A Michael J. Fox movie...

Obviously about his life....

It was interesting. I guess I didn't realize just how big a star he was back in the day.... Parkinson's Disease is a mofo, but he's managed better than one would expect.

Watched it last night. Really enjoyed it.

A solid watchable flick. The way they filmed it to give it an 80's look made the screen dark though.

Probably could have done without Chris Tucker but I guess that was a call made by Jordan.
