I wish Maddon could pitch better and hit better.  Managers should be better at those things

You think turning to Loup in back to back games with a one run lead despite his recent struggles was a good decision? Compared to say, Ortega who has been our best BP arm recently? The manager's job is to put the team in the best position to win, my argument is that he has not done that in back to back nights with his bullpen management. That is not to say that the players don't own a large share of that responsibility of course but Maddon has certainly contributed to these negative results.

Last night was Montoyo.  Dude won that game by PHing both his LHBs to exploit Loup's poor splits .vs RHBs.  Tonight...  two men on, three straight RHBs... enter Loup.  LOL...  I'm sure there would have been a great quote about ignoring the numbers and how its important to show faith in guys sometimes.

But cals

I have a dumb question but here it goes. On that last play, it’s obviously a force out at the plate but the pitcher chose to tag Velazquez. If Stassi touched home before the pitcher tags Velazquez would the run count?

two nights in a row a runner going home jogged when it actually mattered

Managers don't hit or pitch so how could this possibly be true?

Not a dumb question great point.

Would have to look at the rule book for that because maybe a tag between home and 1st is no longer a force out, which means the run should count.

4.09 HOW A TEAM SCORES.

(a) One run shall be scored each time a runner legally advances to and touches first, second, third and home base before three men are put out to end the inning. EXCEPTION: A run is not scored if the runner advances to home base during a play in which the third out is made (1) by the batter-runner before he touches first base; (2) by any runner being forced out; or (3) by a preceding runner who is declared out because he failed to touch one of the bases.

My assumption is the run would count.

I think Javier Baez had a situation like this where he ran back and forth between 1st base and home plate and the run scored and everyone was wondering why didn't they just throw to 1st base?

I hope they fire Maddon.  I have no particular attachment to him.  But I love I told you sos.  Love the shit out of those things.  From Bauer to Buttrey I’ve I told you so’d the shit out of this ridiculous group.

So please fire Maddon so we can see that the next guy won’t be your savior and nothing will change.  I’d love that shit.
