Angels' Increased Scouting Department

By just comparing the number of personnel listed on the Angels "Front Office- Scouting" page on their media guide, it's clear that they've increased the number of scouts they employ within the organization.

It also looks like they've re-structured the department. But, most importantly, it's good to see that they have seemingly increased their investment in scouting.

@Trendon nice find!  Maybe Minasian urged Arte to invest in FO infrastructure to help improve the team.  Whatever it was, I'm glad it was done.  Our farm is looking improved already.

As one who's often kinda cynical about the club's commitment to the player scouting/development side - long suspecting that it was short-changed - only fair for me to say I'm pleased with this - those investments are a big part of what we need to compete, year-in, year-out.

The plan for the scouting department is for it to continue to grow at the pace in which they can find the right personnel. Minasian's inner circle has a great deal of trust built in, and as they discover/train other people that they feel can assess talent and make similar recommendations and decisions as they would personally, they'll hire.

What they don't want are scouts just for the sake of having scouts. 

I am wondering if that's what led to the temporary decrease in personnel, as well an the shutdown.

Obviously quality is better than quantity, but I'm still curious about how the makeup of our scouting staff compares to the Dodgers, for instance.

Either way, I'm liking what Minasian is doing more and more, and I'm happy that it seems like Arte is giving him freedom to do what he deems best for the club.
