The Official Tyler Skaggs Trial (News & Notes) Thread (Eric Kay found GUILTY on both charges)

I don’t know.  To me this is another example of how hyper punitive the justice system is.  If it wasn’t Kay, Skaggs would have got the drugs somewhere else.  Did Kay ram the drugs down his throat ? No ? Do the fents and fucking roll the dice.  Bad luck for Skaggs.  Anyway.  People have been getting fucked on shit like this for decades.  No justice in Kay going to prison.

in some countries like norway and the netherlands, for example, you can buy drugs legally and while the purchase of street drugs is illegal there is no punishment and there are test areas that will tell you what is present in your street drugs.

i used to watch this show in norway where two people would discuss a particular drug of abuse in an open way. one would take the drug and the other would soberly talk with them about what they were experiencing, etc.

we could save a lot of lives if we got over the fear of not prosecuting drug users as equaling some sort of tacit approval of their use. people are going to use drugs. end of story. personally, i'd like society to just accept that as fact and maybe help prevent people from dying during their addiction when possible, while keeping open the channel for an addict to survive long enough to maybe reach the point in the road where they are ready to get clean.

On the one hand, I agree. We're never going to stop it. With that being the case, maybe theres another way.

That said...

Ive been all over europe. Ive been to amsterdam numerous times, where its kosher.

Aside from South Africa, Ive never been anywhere with street zombies like we have.

Its kind of like how other countries have guns, but not the gun violence we do.

Im not saying how we do it now is the best. Im totally open to something new.

But I deal with addicts about every 17 minutes every day at work..... legalizing it isnt going to help anything, at all.

His dealing killed a guy. Killed a guy he knew. Killed a guy that was part of the team he represented in the media. He is definitely deserving of a prison sentence.

"With the trial concluded, MLB plans to launch its own investigation, a league official told The Los Angeles Times, requesting anonymity since no formal announcement has been made."

"The MLB investigation is expected to consider whether there is an opioid issue within the Angels and within the league."

He’s gonna get 20 years at least.  I’m not really interested in defending him.  But I don’t think it’s justice really.

Save the time and just assume the answer is yes on both counts.  Instead of f’n around on an ass covering sham of an investigation, just come up with solutions.  Maybe actually be a leader in professional sports.

Baseball has always had an issue with substance abuse. First it was alcohol, then steroids, greenies, viagra, and now opioids.  It’s probably a very small percentage of players.

The issue are probably even worse in the NFL and NHL because of the amount of physical contact in those sports.

Weren’t they also trying to show that Kay was the go-to guy for those who wanted something? Several players testified that he was supplying drugs when asked.

I mean…at least the guy gets to serve a sentence. Skaggs is in a box.

also, being that he’s not a doctor, what he was doing was illegal.

Skaggs is in a box because of what he did to himself. He was a grown ass man and did drugs that killed him. Should everyone else that gave him drugs over the years be handed a 20 year sentence? You don’t think that Skaggs ever gave drugs to other people? I’m glad Skaggs’ mom and ex can take solace in Kay’s kids having their lives ruined as well. Now instead of 1 family blown apart there are now 2. This whole trial was like some kind of Muslim honor killing.

So let me get this straight…Skaggs died because he took drugs (which I agree he did it to himself) but poor Kay’s family because he’s going to prison? Nobody made him sell drugs. He made a choice and now he gets to live with that choice in jail. It’s fuct on all sides but a drug dealer isn’t the victim here. (Skaggs isn’t the victim either)

I agree he should be punished but 20 years? That’s asinine.
