The thing about Simmons is his take on vaccines its the least crazy position he's taken.  He's seriously reached the point where he'd fit right in on the George Noory show talking about aliens and government conspiracies.  He's legit become a "wake up sheeple" dude.

Which is why I like Nick Ahmed's range and I think he would fit our needs defensively until Davis or one of the kids are ready. And we could probably trade for him and keep our Free Agent monies for arms.

Ahmed shows an overall range of +19 and if you base it on the actual field of play (not including organizational defensive positioning). He would improve our defense up the middle significantly compared to Iglesias (who was burned due to decreasing lateral range and defensive positioning of the over-shift).

I look at the breakdown on OAA and which direction the range is focused at. Glove side should be above normal as your glove is an extension of your arm and allows you to reach/dive to make a play. Throwing side is a cross over. Which means you need better lateral quickness and reaction time in the hole. (Apologies, my coaching and scouting side is coming out).

I got hooked on noory last year. Not because I "liked it", but id listen to kfi all day at work during covid for news. And i just got used to keeping the channel there.

simmons defense is elite. we could use that. 

he wouldn't be expensive. we need that.

any offense we get from him is a bonus. his glove would make this acceptable, and pitchers would love him.

i'd sign him in a heartbeat.

Normally I don't advocate a "bring that former Angel back" campaign because it is usually rooted in emotion. (For me Wally Joyner and Jim Abbott) 

However Simmons seems like he has potential be a buy low option if we spend our budget on pitching. I don't care about his bat, but can someone explain why/did his defensiveness really fall off the cliff? Is he done? 

Upgrading our pitching and more ground balls could make a healthy Simmons a sneaky inexpensive path.
