How would you address shortstop?

After I fix the pitching.  If you can’t land the high end starting pitching, it really doesn’t matter who plays short.

Something along those lines. 

Plan A

A very good starter on a deal of less than 4 years via FA.  To slot after Ohtani.  
A closer
A legit yet not overly expensive SS.  Someone about league Avg.  
2 pen arms that can push a guy like Mayers to 5th or 6th out. 
Another decent starter
A quality MIFer coming off the bench.  Not a scrub replacement player picked up on waievers
A backup C.  

Plan B
All the above minus the first one.  
Plus another pen arm.  

Every plan including A-Z 

Don't trade Marsh, Adell, or Rodriguez.  Try not to trade Detmers.  If you must then it should be for someone with at least three years of control that can slot in after Shohei.  

Don't trade anyone in our top 15 or so for some mediocre starter.  And please don't trade Paris or Kochanowicz.

Has anyone mentioned Joey Wendle?  Solid defender at SS and other spots.  Might be getting too pricey for the Rays.

I like him as a fit, but I'd prefer him as a player who could bounce around and play like 4-5 games a week instead of being the starting SS.

Maybe Fletcher, Wendle, and someone else could split 2B and SS, with 1 of those guys being available off the bench.
