guys become relievers primarily because they're not good enough to be starters.  Or they're more effective over a couple innings as opposed to 5+.  Their mechanics might make them likely to be less injury prone in short stints but that's rare and completely subjective.  There's no precedent that Rodriguez previous injury makes his more susceptible to injury one way or another.  He has the stuff to be a #1 starter or a dominant reliever.  In this situation, it's my opinion that you exhaust all avenues of the starter path first.

The next question then is, at what point in CRod’s case will all avenues for a starter have been exhausted?

I feel like Minasian is even more evasive than most.   I guess I don't care if he says anything meaningful as long as he does stuff that's meaningful.

At least he didn't blame it on Eppler.

Kind of hard to talk about last season's defense when from the third week on the attrition of starting players began and their subs were never supposed to leave Salt Lake until at least mid season. What can you say, these guys we threw out there because we had no choice didn't do the job?

And if it was that it would be understandable, but that isn’t what was wrong with the defense.  The problem was putting them at a disadvantage because of where they started each play compared to the hitters tendencies.

No. They did a worse job because of the defense.
