Very surprised by this. I guess this means the org thinks highly of him? He was rule 5 eligible, so I wonder if they were planning on adding him to the 40-man roster in the offseason.

If they were just gonna call him up for a start and then DFA him, you might as well have just given Kyle Tyler the start with a bullpen game behind him.

So this makes me think that they like him long-term.
