Does the silver slugger for pitcher have to be a NL pitcher? I just figured an AL pitcher hasn't one it because they don't bat.

Correct. They don’t bat so they aren’t eligible

I believe Bundy and Quintana are the favorites to win the Silver Slugger award for pitchers based on the other team's batting performances when they pitch.

But Ohtani does bat when he pitches. I just don't see see where it says it has to be a NL pitcher who wins the award. Ohtani has a 875 OPS as a pitcher.

True but the majority of his ABs and offensive numbers will come as a DH. If he gets the silver slugger it will be under that position. I guess if his offensive numbers during his pitching days are really good then I suppose he could get it for pitcher.

Bottom line is Ohtani is a freak of nature and is doing things that is never seen in MLB.

I don’t know what the other DH numbers are around the league but Ohtani could get one for both positions. That would be funny

Cruz .562 Slugging .936 OPS

JD Martinez .540 Slugging .904 OPS

Alvarez .534 Slugging .901 OPS

As a side note, Ohtani has more stolen bases on the year than all the other DH's in the league combined.

There is no Silver Slugger award given to pitchers in the AL, just like there's no DH Sliver Slugger award for the NL.
