Numbers update after 41 games played.... Buttercup

Recommended Posts

This is a for what it's worth post.

Just showing game totals in certain situations.

Games played: 41
Pitching has given up 4 or more runs: 28 games
Pitching has given up 5 or more runs: 23 games
Offense has scored 4 or more runs: 24 games
Offense has scored 5 or more runs: 16 games

Pitching has given up 5 or more runs in more than half of our games this year.
Collectively, they have an MLB worst 5.28 ERA.

How are we feeling about the annual 1 year pickups so far?

Confused Agents Of Shield GIF by ABC Network

Kidding...

And just to pile on Heaney: he still only has a grand total of a whopping 25 wins, even though he's been in the majors since 2014 and will be 30 years old in a couple weeks (yes, I understand he's been injured a bunch, but that's part of the point).

On the other hand, Starters only have a combined loss total of 15 games through the first 41.

Shohei Ohtani has not lost a game this season.

Is this enough time to surmise that Wise isn’t cutting it?

Without some divine intervention, the pitchers are bad and realistically can only improve to being meh.

And to pile on, Heaney is the same pitcher he was in 2014.....there is absolutely no evidence of improvement.  On the upside, there is no evidence of decline, either.
