Don't know what it could be for, but I imagine St. Louis will try to package Liberatore and Gorman for either Betts or Arenado.

Yeah Jose Martinez crushes LHP but he's very defensively limited too as an outfielder if that is what the Rays are going to use him as....

If this is the Cardinals stocking up to make a move for Arenado, that could make the Rockies more amenable to selling off Gray. Not sure how that affects the price and market with other teams but you gotta think it gets them to start thinking about selling off other pieces.

Deal makes sense for both sides, IMO.

Rays can play Jose Martinez at 1B/DH, and they get 3 years of control. They must be really high on Arozarena. Pick upgrade.

Cards get Liberatore. Draft pick is just a swap. Jose wasn't a great fit. Catcher has potential.

Seems reasonable.

The Rays have Renfroe and Meadows at the corner OF spots so maybe Jose Martinez is going to see time at 1B and DH. Choi and Tsutsugo are both LHB's.

Randy Arozarena could be the Rays opening day Center Fielder. Was the Cards #10 prospect and got called up last year. Slashed .344/.431/.571/.1.003 in AAA/AA last year. He looks like the real deal.

 

I must have confused Arozarena as I didn't realize he was major league ready and thought he was in rookie ball.  My bad.  

I still think the Cards win this one for now though.

Martinez will be right handed power bat. They are heavy left handed. Will play DH and 1st base and probably some left or right field.

Arozarena will become the fourth OF'er speed guy can play all 3 outfield spots and he gets on base!

Might move Renfroe to DH and Martinez to 1st. So, Arozarena can lead off and play left.
