Why is everyone acting like he would be this team's savior? He's been consistently solid throughout his career, but last year, he led the league in hits allowed and had a 1.31 WHIP. He also doesn't strike out very many batters.

Sure, if you can get him cheap, he's a good pickup. But I don't see him making a huge impact on this team.

I dont think anyone suggests he would be any kind of savior, the numbers dont support that, but would be be an upgrade over Harvey/Cahill... damn skippy.

Keuchel could be just as bad... maybe not likely... but possible.  I thought I had read that he had given up the most hits in all of baseball last year.

This is perfect opportunity for a redo for the Angels with Cahill and Harvey.  Go get Keuchel to at least hopefully save the bullpen.

The dude is nowhere near ready since spring training is long gone, and he wasn't with any team. 

What's the point of signing him now if he needs 1-2 months to return to form?

So, why Keuchel? Pretty much every SP in baseball would be an upgrade over Cahill and Harvey. And technically, they've both already been replaced by Heaney, Canning, and Suarez.

Yep, an exaggeration. But there seems to be a general consensus that the Angels should get Keuchel.

He’d be a nice addition to the rotation without giving up anything. It would give us a better chance at the 2nd wc. 

If he doesn’t then so what.

Cahill and Harvey shouldn't be pitching for us regardless of where Keuchel signs.

I see the Keuchel situation as different than being a typical buyer situation.  He doesn't cost prospects. He would help this team stabilize the rotation this year into next.  Seems like a low risk/high reward move.

He does give up a lot of hits, led league in '18 in fact and had a pedestrian WHIP of 1.314.  All the vlaid reasons i had no interest in paying him what he wanted at any time.   All i can say thats a positive in this is that what he doesnt do, is give up bombs which at this point would be a marked improvement for us.  
I dont think there is much chance of it mind you as i dont see him either going cheap or going to someone not in the playoff hunt much more than us, but its hard to argue it wouldnt be an upgrade.

At this point, it would be hard to argue that a 58 year old Mark Langston wouldn't be an upgrade.

I think it all comes down what he will cost.....a reasonable two year deal, or one year  with a manageable option might work....

Something about giving up the most hits in baseball tho: It also means that he pitched a lot of innings. 

Probably would pitch as many useful innings as Harvey & Cahill combined. It is something to consider.
