Monterrey is safe.  It is only the border towns that are war zones.

Not really true. Some of the tourist areas of Mexico have seen an influx of cartel violence over the past 4-5 years.

Cancun has gotten really bad. Even Cabo has had some reports of violence and while it should be OK, I don't risk it.

If I am going to risk it, I go down to TJ and help build a house or something. Something meaningful.

But if I'm vacationing, I ain't got time for crime or stress. That's what I leave behind from work and the every day rat race.

Last time I was in Mexico I got pulled over upon crossing the border by a Mexican policeman, who searched my car so thoroughly I thought he was going to pull the upholstery out. Very intimidating and embarrassing for me and my guests who had to stand on the side of the road for about 20 minutes. I think he was hoping I would give him some money.

No great desire to return there.

I'm with you. ZERO interest in ever going down there.

I don't want to end up on one of those unsolved crime shows.

The Bahamas - Level 2: Exercise Increased Caution

C

Exercise increased caution in The Bahamas due to crime.

Violent crime, such as burglaries, armed robberies, and sexual assault, occurs even during the day and in tourist areas. Although the family islands are not crime-free, the vast majority of crime occurs on New Providence and Grand Bahama islands. U.S. government personnel are not permitted to visit the area known by many visitors as the Sand Trap area in Nassau due to crime. Activities involving commercial recreational watercraft, including water tours, are not consistently regulated. Watercraft are often not maintained, and many companies do not have safety certifications to operate in The Bahamas. Jet-ski operators have been known to commit sexual assaults against tourists. As a result, U.S. government personnel are not permitted to use jet-ski rentals on New Providence and Paradise Islands.

Never had a problem there, but then again I'm only there for 8 hours until my next destination and I usually just make friends at the beach and bar.

Monterey, Mexico, Ugh!  I don't go anywhere where there are volcanoes, and this looks suspicious.  Think of it as the Earth barfing lots of carbon, that's very bad.  Four of the the last five mass extinction events had these suckers heavily involved.

The Angels, as I understand it, are getting compensated pretty well by MLB for giving up these two home games, probably to the point that that it’s more profitable than playing in Anaheim.

The players also get a paid extra - don’t know how much but my understanding is it’s a significant amount - for playing these games.

But the Angel season ticket fans were charged for these 2 games. Were told not their (Angels) fault. MLB in charge of these games.

Meh. I've got two of those in my backyard and I live in California. Not a big deal, fun to hike and it frequently results in cool things like hot springs.

The thing I found most interesting is the compensation for the non-player, non-executive traveling personnel (e.g., Managers, Coaches, Trainers and Clubhouse Staff). They will receive $40,000 - really nice for for some of them.

Wow
