Teams that were worse than the Angels will ever be

Just in case 2019 goes south for the Angels, just remember that things could be worse. Far worse.

The 1883 Philadelphia Quakers of the NL.

Record of 17-81. 437 runs, 887 runs allowed.

Rookie John Coleman lost 48 games, a record that stands to this day.

Worst team ever was the 1899 Cleveland Spiders.  20-134.  Scored 529 runs and gave up 1252.  They drew 6,000 fans total, mainly because they ended up playing the vast majority of their games on the road.

Cleveland Spiders were awesome.  Cy Young's original team.  

Young got 'assigned' to the St. Louis Perfectos' prior to the 1899 season which was the spiders last year.  

they actually switched managers mid season as if that would help.  

They finished 84 games back to the Brooklyn Superbas.  Brooklyn had Willie Keeler (HOF) who his .383 over 7 seasons from 1894-1900.  

Superbas became the Robins and then the Dodgers.

Their entire offense had a WAR of 5.1, Machado was 2.9 of that and Jonathon Schoop was 1.3.

43-119 (worst AL record ever?), and NOT an expansion team like the 1962 Mets were when they were 40-120

Other than strike-shortened seasons, 1994 and 1981, the Angels haven't finished with fewer than 70 wins since 1980. That's something, I guess.

he had 12 wins though.  

BTW, he was Ohtani that year.  He pitched over 500 innings and had 369 PA.

& their Still better than Denmark in this years WJC in Ice Hockey that hadn't scored a single goal in the tournament until they met up with Kazakhistan.
