Just using logic here, but how is A top 3 international signing only on par with the 80th (ish) US drafted player?  I realize that he’s young and raw but how in the world could they be equal?  I will assume most national scouts would have a different opinion.

Its all based on projections. People see things they like and things they dislike. I don't like Marte as much as some others. People may disagree, but that's my opinion. We wont know anything on either for at least another 3-5 years and so many variables will take place over that time. What happens if Marte's eye issue makes him blind in 5 months...? Guess nobody would have seen that coming. Pun intended.

I agree with the scouts on this one, Marte is going to be a very good all around player. Better than Pearson. Pearson's swing is better, and he's stronger. He's probably about the same in the speed department.

I think in the end, Pearson will be the better offensive player, though Marte won't be a slouch himself. But Marte will be a far superior defensive player at a more important defensive position. Pearson is a liability in the field.

Pearson likely should have gone higher in the draft, like 2nd round or supplemental round but shoulder issues knocked his stock down. But Marte would be a mid to end of the first round talent.

Or spend what's left of next year's budget.

Isn’t that only for the Braves prospects?

It's good to be greedy. Angels will just trade for Stanton and the rest of the Marlins IFA

Btw, Severino is off the board. Twins just signed him

That’s more than he originally got from the Braves!
