Completely forgot about the Mo Vaughn signing.  That was pretty epic day too and at the time made a lot of sense for the Angels.  He was coming off a monster year with the Red Sox and was going to his age 31 season so at the tail end of his prime.  He hurt his ankle I think at the very first game going after a foul ball and tripped on the stairs as this was years before they had that railing on the dugouts in Angel stadium, he was never the same after that.

Some very good choices to choice from. Jered Weaver is my favourite player of all time. Also loved Vlad, and Torrii. All for very good reasons. But I remember coming home from school for lunch, to go on the computer to see Albert, and CJ signed. The excitement my late dad and I had were insurmountable. It was one of the best days of my life, and one day I will remember forever. Even tho it didn't turn out to be what we had hoped.

I also went with Pujols/Wilson. That night/morning was crazy and is one I remember fondly. Once the rumors started that the Angels were in on Pujols this place went nuts. The anticipation and excitement were palpable! Its a shame things didn't go as we all had hoped, but its still one of my favorite times as a fan of this team.

He still gave us two good seasons out of three.

1976/1977/1978/1979 Off Seasons: Other than the trade for Nolan Ryan this was when my Halos started actually being relevant.
1976 Signed Bobby Grich, Signed Don Baylor, Signed Joe Rudi

1977 Traded Dotson, Bonds, Bosley to the ChiSox for Downing, Knapp, Frost, Signed Lyman Bostock

1978 Traded Danny Goodwin, Ron "Poppa Jack" Jackson to the Twins for Dan Ford.

1979 Traded Dave Engle, Paul Hartzell, Brad Havens and Kenny Landreaux to the Twins for Rod Carew.

There are others later!

signed Reggie Jackson, signed Mo Vaughn, signed Vlad, signed Bruce Kison, Trade for Fred Lynn, Trade for Rick Burleson/Butch Hobson who scrubbed us, Trade for Don Sutton & Tommy John were pretty significant at the time. Also, The signing of Geoff Zahn and Trade for Ken Forsch at the time were also solid additions. Signed Mark Langston, Signed AP#5 and blew $$$ on the power Lefty bat that had a Drug relapse (will never say his name ever again), Signed Torii Hunter, Big Tex trade, Greinke trade, Haren Trade, Compensation Pick of Donnie Moore. Traded for Doug Corbett who I thought would help (he didn't) and we lost Tom Brunansky.... There are more I will add them as I remember them....

Memory Lane -  Thanks Cowboy!~

Thanks Slappy, the Carew signing is dear to my heart because that's the reason I became an Angels fan.

Unfortunately, add me in the Vaughn camp.  I really thought that was going to be a huge move.  It was huge, but not in the way i had hoped.

Honestly, vaugnn wasnt as bad as we remember....the team just continued to flounder, and he left on bad terms. But he was a pretty good hitter, in a pretty good lineup. We just continued to get overshadowed by texas, ny etc, and oakland had the big 3

We were rumored to be in on randy johnson around the same time...that may have changed more than we think
