Alvarez shouldn't be allowed to come into a game if the Angels are within striking distance. I'll never understand it. Sosh did that 2 years ago when we missed the playoffs by a game. He brought Alvarez in like 10 times that year in close games until they were no longer close

Rangers' Perez fractures thumb on hotel door

Texas Rangers starter Martin Perez tore the nail off his right (non-pitching) thumb and also fractured the tip of the bone after catching it in his hotel room door.

Perez said his thumb got caught against the door jam in his room after someone opened the door. A team trainer took Perez to a hospital where the nail was reattached and X-rays showed a small fracture.
