@John Smith, does this money go against what they can sign picks 1-10 with?  If so this basically ends our chances of signing the kid going to Alabama I would think.

After round 10 anything over $125,000 goes against the pool allotment. Also, if they don't sign Booker, they lose the $346,000 slot for the fifth round. This affects the less than 5% over-allotment money (The maximum the team can spend without losing draft picks). Basically Booker signs for slot or goes to school, as well as, any other picks have to sign for no more than the max $125,000.

5 and 15 have said they are going back to school.  If the 5th pick does, we lose that money from the pool.  Which means the additional 5% we can go over becomes a little less.  

From the information in this thread, we are $384,700 over. 

If Booker signs, our pool is $8,212,800.  If he doesn't, (slot is $346,500) then our pool amount drops to $7,866,300

We can go over by 5% without losing a pick.  So if he signs, we can go over pool by $410,640, and if he doesn't we can go over by $393,315.  

I am also assuming that we didn't go over the 125k for any of our other signed picks at 11-33

So we've got a max of about 25k to go over slot on Booker.  We already offered him over slot but my guess is that it's off the table now that we went so far over on Rivera.  We could still go a little over for him though.  

Brittain (15) is likely going to pass.  

Traver is at TCU and they went deep into the CWS.  He's a 5th yr SR so he'll sign 

Cobi Johnson was also at the CWS semis but he's a jr.  My guess is that he'll sign though.  

That would give us 31 of our top 33 if booker doesn't sign 

34-40 is made up of one college JR and 6 high schoolers.  All of whom are very likely to go to (or back to college).  They were likely waiting to see what happened with our pool money.  And since we can't really go over the 125k for any of them, I doubt they sign.  I like the strategy though.  If they don't go over for Rivera by 325k, then they could have used that on one of those from the 34-40 range.  Throw it out to each one of them.  Whoever is the first to take the offer get's a nice payday.  Unfortunately, that money isn't there anymore so it's moot.  Maybe we'll get lucky and a couple of those late high school guys will chase the 125k.

that's the way I see it as well.  Hopefully we can also add a couple of those college world series guys to fill out our top 33.
