Trout's WAR

Recommended Posts

I'm probably one of the best critics of physiques/body fat you'll get on this site considering I'm a bodybuilder. Whatever your whiny, uninformed ass has to say..just know that I'm right and Trout's body fat IS higher than it was last year, and his skill set has slightly decreased this year; again due to being a little out of shape.

When did Trout misplay balls so close to the wall last year? When he's jumped this season, it looks like he isn't even the same player. Another great example I recall (some here will remember this game that happened this season, some won't). Trout hit a ground ball to the short stop and it bounced off the guys glove, he didn't grab it cleanly. He still ended up throwing Trout out at 1st, last year he would have beat that throw even if the guy had grabbed it cleanly. Trout says he's at 9 percent body fat..doesn't mean it's true. Every non-body builder knows that athletes always lie about their bodyfats (or are just unaware of how to measure it). Most players are usually 4-5% higher than what they think.

Lifetime and Shane, you are so in over your heads right now.

I didn't see this gem before LOL. By the way, I've been in the fitness industry for over 25 years. I know a thing or two about this subject Mr Ima Bodybuilder.

I don't know why this pleases me, but Trout's WAR is now up to 1.3 - tied with Bryce Harper. Compare their raw stats:

Harper: .320/.412/.660, 9 HR, 1 SB

Trout: .270/.341/.492, 4 HR, 4 SB

The difference? Well its all in the defense (Fld, or Fielding Runs) and baserunning (BsR, or Baserunning runs):

Harper: -1.8 Fld, -0.9 BsR

Trout: 2.4 Fld, 1.9 BsR

Now consider that Trout is more likely to improve his triple-slash numbers; I'm guessing he ends up with something north of .290+/.370+/.500+, around 25 HR and 40 SB. Right now he's on pace for a 7+ fWAR; I see no reason with those improvements he can't end with 8+.

And Harper? Obviously he's the real deal and I think is going to be mashing the ball like no other for the next decade, but I still don't expect a 1.072 OPS all year. Maybe .950? He should also improve his Fld and BsR, so I think can continue his overall 7+ fWAR pace.

The bottom line is that it could be a dog-fight, but I'd place my money on Trout. He's just go more room to improve.

The bottom line also is 'how're their respective teams faring?' Ultimately that is what matters most.

And it's already been noted that he came into camp last year under his usual weight because of whatever illnes/flu he had. He got his weight back up to his usual playing weight as the season went on

And kept the weight going in the offseason.

I know, it is just that for me the only thing that matters is how they are helping their team to succeed.

Right, but how they are doing indivually is how they are helping their teams. Whether or not their teams are successful due to the rest of the moving parts does not diminish their accomplishments or contributions.

Lmao, It's clear that my bodybuilding knowledge is far superior to yours. Nice ''credentials'' though, I really believe you.

@Ray, I'm the one who towers over you in height, weight and confidence.
