Altuve  was hitting the ball.  Trout was striking out.

Altuve made more outs - 459.  Reached base fewer times.   Funny how that works eh?

The Astros center fielder isn't bad, the Angels sucked at second base. I think the Angels would have won more games. Not sure about the Astros.

The Astros primary CF was Carlos Gomez -- he was so good (64 OPS+), he was released.   The two guys that replaced him Marisknick 62, and Tony Kemp 72 weren't good either.   Combined the Houston CFs hit .210/270/.355 -- the worst group in all the AL.

The Angels primary 2B put up an OPS+ of 82 and we all thought he was bad.  Combined the Angels 2B hit .235/.275.345 -- the third worst group in the AL.

Turned out that way ... listening to Roberts post game interview ... I think it was the right call. Blanton has been one of their best relievers. You take Blanton out for a LP then Maddon counters with RH bat.

Leaving a hanging slider with a 0-2 count was the big mistake. That's baseball!

Trout is the best player in baseball, but good center fielders are dime a dozen.  I can't  give him the MVP.

Trout is worth a little more than a 1/12 of a dime, try $35M+ for 1.

There isn't 1 player in all of MLB that a team wouldn't trade for Trout and there are very few 2 players the Angels would accept for Trout.

Oz is going to fuck some people up in this thread after that performance.

He's been screwed by pretty shitty luck in the playoffs for awhile and got some more shitty luck with the dropped pop up, but he did get away with one on the Baez fly ball. Balls hit at that velocity and angle are homers nearly 70 per cent of the time and hits 90 per cent of the time.

Nevertheless, that was a pretty epic performance from him.
