Hamilton placed on unconditional release waivers.

Recommended Posts

Rangers activated OF Josh Hamilton from the 60-day disabled list; placed him on unconditional release waivers.

"Hamilton underwent surgery in June for an ACL injury and to repair arterial and meniscus cartilage in his left knee. The 35-year-old outfielder is still owed $28.4 million in 2017, but the Angels are on the hook for most of that. He didn't appear in a single game this season and will turn 36 years old next May. It probably won't be a very fruitful free agent market for him." Rotoworld

Time for him to smash some tequila and chicken fajitas...if he hasn't been already.

Then you would miss out on almost every free agent.

I'm down. I'd rather keep my team young and hungry and in the last year of a deal right before they hit 30 trade for prospects  then to sign anyone over 30 to 7 8 year contracts. Just bizarre to me

May I introduce you to the Oakland A's.

You can't really control that Kevin.  If you have a quality talent you don't get to choose how many years they play for you after the sixth year.  So if they come up at 21-23 they can and will leave before 30 if you are a team that has a rep of trading players at a certain time.

This was expected news. It' just a business decision by the Rangers to free up the 40 man roster. Texas still holds the rights. He can't play for anyone else besides the Rangers until this contract expires.
