46% caught stealing when the league average is 26%. If the Angels had a few pitchers that could keep runners close that number could even rise. There will be no 8 stolen base games when Bandy is behind the plate.

Arch, I was surprised to see he has 7 home runs in that few at bats. The guy has serious power and a really good looking swing.

For all the draft fanatics he was a 31st round pick, the 945th overall in 2011. He is also the last of the Reagin's drafts which brought in CJ Cron as well as Clevinger and Maronde, both pitching for Cleveland.

Let this sink in, of the 49 players picked by the Angels in 2011 only 4 have made it to the majors. The other 45 are either still working on their skills in the minors or behind the grill at the In N Out. Every year the Angels draft about 50 guys and of them maybe 3 or 4 see the majors for any length of time and it is the same league wide.

So many hopefuls and then out of the draft a guy picked 945th is having success. Gotta love all the hype about advanced metrics.

What does any of that have to do with advanced metrics?

I didn't know Strad was once drafted.

His offensive numbers throughout his career seem to hover around .250-.260 .320-.330 OBP .750 OPS

If he can even put up a .250 .320 .730 line while catching a great game and throwing out 45% of the runners, you have our starting catcher.  Still, Carlos Perez was putting up similar numbers in the minors and has slumped since coming up so I'm not holding my breath that this offensive pace continues.

Even with that consideration, Jett/Perez is a solid defensive catching combo and I like them both on the team.

A poor man's Mike Piazza?    Except that Bandy can actually provide solid defense behind the plate.

You almost had me and then you throw in a jab at advanced metrics. What does realizing that only a few drafted players plan out have to do with advanced metrics? The two are basically unrelated.
