Orange County Register: Angels Notes: Mike Trout's slip proves costly in ninth

Recommended Posts

Trout knew mr .160 was up behind him (not that the other guys are much better)...at least avoid the Pujols GIDP.

I think that's exactly what Trout was thinking. One out and Trout on second gives you another at bat if Albert taps out. Scoreless in 28 out of 31 innings, you try to shake something loose.

I will say this. Mike Trout was out because of his bad mechanics with he peeled off to the right immediately after crossing 1st base. What the hell was he doing in that area where he slipped? Most MLB players run through the bag on close bang bang plays. Just watch the play and you will see Trout make a right turn without hesitation after he crosses first.

He didn't realize the ball got away he was turning to the right to head back to first after running through the bag. And then he saw the ball rolling around and tried to take off, that's when he slipped

He should never just peel off to the right. He should run straight through. You learn that in little league. It's the first base coaches responsibility to tell him to go to second. Mike Trout peels off to the right every time he tries to beat a throw to first. If the throw gets by the 1st baseman the first base coach yells SECOND! SECOND! SECOND!

That's his job.
