Jett Bandy?

The more I see him the more I like the kid. He has great poise behind the plate, and has a clean swing. I may go a bit far on this one, but honestly I'd take Bandy over Perez and Soto as the starter. The kid can play..thoughts?

He's looking good. High hopes for him. Probably why they only went out and got a veteran on a 1 year deal to cover until he hopefully comes up next year.

I have this shitty feeling that Iannetta is going to be the new Mike Napoli. He knows our pitchers, what they throw and their tendencies.

Its comforting to know that if there is an injury or Soto struggles badly, Bandy is down there ready to take over.

I like Bandy, but his hitting is the question.  I think he benefits from another year at AAA.

Bandy is better behind the plate than either Soto or Perez, and has a good arm. Perez has just as good of an arm and a quicker release. Soto comes in third in both carmtegories but is still miles better than Iannetta.

Offensively, Soto and Bandy are quite similar. Perez makes better contact than both but also won't hit for as much power or reach base as often.

So if you're deciding between the three, you really can't go wrong.

I like the idea of having Bandy as depth. Soto/Perez should be an adequate duo this year but Bandy should fill in and at the very least be serviceable when an injury occurs.

By the way, the fourth catcher (Taylor Ward) was really impressive today in throwing out two runners trying to steal.  He was swift and accurate, with great footwork.

Bandy has better lateral movement and is quicker out of the crouch than Perez. He's also just faster in general. As far as his arm goes, it's an A grade arm, but his release is slow, which results in average or above average pop times. Comparatively, Perez's arm isn't as strong as Bandy's, but his transfer and arm motion leads to similar or even slightly getter pop times then Bandy.

Not sure about those numbers scotty, but i can almost guarantee i have a quicker pop time than those guys.

He's a big dude! I was kind of surprised when he was in the on deck circle.... If he can put it all together that could be pretty good! To have that kind of kid in AAA and first to Anaheim if something were to happen to one of the other catchers.

Oh I am.  I've watched them play and peaked at the numbers.  What I'm saying is that I'm not here to convince you otherwise.  You can take it for it's value and believe me or not.  But if if you don't, you're more than welcome to go find them yourself.
