A's acquire INF/OF Chris Coghlan

The A's have acquired INF/OF Chris Coghlan from the Cubs for Aaron Brooks.

 

Solid player who I wouldn't have minded the Angels getting. A's give up a run of the mill reliever prospect to get him.

Another of the Angels targets for LF is now off the board. Can't believe how cheap it was to acquire him. Angels definitely should've been in on that.

Agreed. His 11% BB% and career .340 OBP% would have been nice atop the lineup and his defensive metrics graded out very well in LF this past year.

Re-signing Fowler today made Coughlan redundant...

Coghlan is the guy who tore up his knee delivering a shaving cream pie to the face of a teammate while with the Marlins.

 

Rookie of the Year in 2009, and made a nice comeback from that injury, though it took several years to get back to form.

 

.340 lifetime OBP, .784 OPS. About the same as Gentry/Nava.
