Alexei Bell is expected to hold a showcase for MLB teams

Cuban outfielder Alexei Bell is expected to hold a showcase for MLB teams on February 10 in Mexico City.

Jesse Sanchez of MLB.com reported Monday that Bell was on track for a showcase in the first or second week of February, but now we have a firm date. The 32-year-old is a few years removed from his peak at this point, but was one of the best players in Cuba for a stretch and should draw plenty of interest. Bell spent 2015 with the Quebec Capitales of the Canadian-American Association and batted .317/.363/.424 over 59 games.

I read about him awhile back and he seemed intriguing at first but after seeing a few more reports he felt like he'd be comparable to what we already have. Little power, good obp, decent defense...he's a tiny dude though, only 5'7" and doesn't hit lefty. Sort of falls into 4th OF territory.

 

Possibly confusing with another Cuban though.

Nope, too old.

 

International cap is basically for players like 22 and under.  

Anyone older than that has likely played the six seasons or whatever to make them ineligible to those penalties.
