Who else is doing Powerball?

Last estimate I saw was an $800M payout for the winner, already a record jackpot. If it isn't hit tonight, it could exceed $1 billion.

 

 

Since Nevada apparently believes that it would kill the casinos to do a lottery here, I have to stray into California to buy tickets. The place just across the line at Primm is always jammed. In probably half the time that I would have spent in line there, I drove to Baker and hit a place where I was third in line.

We did one at work. Everyone threw in $10 and we had something like 118 people and $1,180 in tix. I think there were even still collecting today so it could be way more.

 

I was trying to break it down with the lump sum and taxes for that many people.

When we did the office pool at a previous workplace, me and another guy would drive deep into Santa Ana in search of the most ghetto liquor store we could find in order to increase our odds of winning.

I always try to remember to imagine 292,000,000 people sitting in a giant stadium, expecting my name to be called as the winner...

that's why I don't play it...and I'm a confirmed degenerate gambler.

I'll buy a Fantasy 5 now and then when I see it over $500,000, which only happens a few times a year.

That's what we did, at least on the first run. I think she made multiple trips as money kept coming in.

You don't increase your odds, but the unquantifiable luck factor has to go up a couple notches.

I hear those situations turn ugly.  Like people suing because you left them out.  Even though you asked them, and they said no.  Or you asked them, and they said yes, but didn't have the money and you bought it without them.  All sorts of excuses, most of which are fabricated, so they can get some out of it.
