Pat Benatar and Stevie Nicks had a lot of great songs in the 80's.

They had great songs, but none of their albums really stands out for me.

 

That's why the only Benatar in my collection is a Best Of compilation, and the only Stevie Nicks I have happens to also include Mick Fleetwood,  Lindsey Buckingham and the McVies.

Phil Collins' solo career seems to be more commercial and therefore more satisfying, in a narrower way. Especially songs like In the Air Tonight and Against All Odds. But I also think Phil Collins works best within the confines of the group, than as a solo artist, and I stress the word artist. This is Sussudio, a great, great song, a personal favorite.

Phil also did a great soundtrack for the animated Disney movie Tarzan. I have it on Betamax.

I was in an 80s cover band in high school called Members Only.  Yes we all wore the jackets during our performances.  My favorite song to cover was The Outfield 'Your Love'.  Was also a fan of Grant Green bc he used that song for his walk up music.

There was some good stuff in certain genres, but for the most part it wasn't as good as the 70s, and maybe even the 90s (hell, even Depeche Mode's best stuff was in the 90s).
