The NL has ridiculous pitching.

At first, it makes Harper's 1.100 OPS seem even more remarkable.

But then one sees that he plays in a really bad division (Marlins, Braves, and Phillies).

No wonder that a Terry Collins coached team (Mets) won 90+ games?

Its a really really weird park..   The wind patterns tend to make for some really odd fluctuations from year to year (sometimes from day to day) -- Dodger Stadium has shown a similar tendency to have oddball seasons while being primarily a pitcher park..   Looking at the data at Stats Inc, Wrigley has had several seasons in recent years where it played like a HR park but didn't really influence scoring as much as you would think, resulting in it being a slight pitcher's park.   It had one year where it was a severe hitter's park and yet it had a negative impact on HRs...  Just really oddball stuff.  But for whatever reasons it's most recent three year sample rates it at as a 99 on the 100 being neutral scale.

I've been there a few times and the wind did seem to be strong and varying.

" I thought the award was for players coming back from an injury "

Injury, personal problems, a bad year or two...or just overall limpdickness and inability to perform as in previous years

From Wikipedia:

The Major League Baseball Comeback Player of the Year Award was developed in 2005, as part of a sponsorship agreement between MLB and Viagra
