Watched a movie last night with William Hurt...reminded me of his role in the Sopranos as the old fat sad degenerate cop who feeds Tony inside cop information in the late episodes.

I've watched the Sopranos from start to finish about 5 times. It's the greatest show ever made, and it's remarkably deep if you bother to look past the surface. 

 

Anyways, it's my favorite show of all time.

They really lost me in the penultimate season when Tony got shot and they did like four weird flashback on acid episodes with him in CA.

Those were some of the finest episodes of the series. Maybe CSI or Criminal Minds is more up your alley?

I did not like those episodes the first time I saw them. After watching it a second time, I appreciated it much more

I have seen those episodes at least 3-4 times.  I always have to power through them to make it to the final episodes.  Couple of times my wife and I have quit watching at that point.  First few seasons are the best anyway.

They're incredibly deep episodes. The dream sequences and the Kevin Finnerty stuff delve into what the entire show is really about:  who Tony is and who he wishes he was. Sopranos isn't strictly a show about the mafia, it's really about Tony's psyche–and the aforementioned episodes really flesh out Tony's self and insecurities.
